The Birth of Lubrilon

The first label for the products was Lubrilong; the “G” was eventually dropped, and the brand became Lubrilon from 1974 to today. While the name may have changed, the formula never has. It has always been the tested and proven product that set the stage for an entire  industry of imitators.

The Initial Test

When John Bishop invented the Lubrilon formula, he needed an inexpensive way to test it.  That’s where the family mower came in.  John added the formula to the mower, listened for the engine change, and soon drained out the oil and completed cutting the lawn with no oil in the engine. It worked.

The Family Car

The next experiment involved the family car. Putting his money where his mouth was, John treated the family station wagon with his revolutionary new formula, and when the change happened, he drained the oil to prove this would actually protect a vehicle under real driving conditions. The product worked as expected, and John has never looked back.
